So United had a short break, as there were International Friendlies going on...
and unfortunately for us, Rooney picked up an injury during that England friendly against Egypt (which ended 3-1 btw)
so the next game was Wolves at the Molineux and once again, it showed the world we kinda need another goal poacher.
it ended up 1-0 to us thankfully for Paul Scholes. But we needed Rooney back a.s.a.p.
Luckily (was it? that makes you wonder) Mr. Rooney was back at the next game... and guess who it was against?
AC MILAN... it was probably Mr. Sir Alex Ferguson's plan to reserve his top striker for a bigger opposition.
Anyway the match was incredible. All the players who were involved took the game to the Italian Giants and shut them out. Completely. Even with Becks in the Milan squad, they posed little threat and this gives us a view of what is to come in the coming months.
the match ended 4-0. Yes FOUR... and here's the highlights:
So that was that, now to mark 100 years in Old Trafford with a home game against Fulham. The team that beat us back in December when we lacked defenders. It was personal. It was REVENGE.
The first half was shaky as both teams attacked with desire to make a game of this. But unfortunately there wasn't any goals in the first half. And when the 2nd half started, it only took Nani and Rooney 30seconds to dismantle the Fulham defense and destroy whatever morale they gained during the break.
Berbatov was menacing and unfortunately for him, he missed a couple of good chances. Funny, Valencia was pretty quiet during that game. A quick substitution in the 73rd minute saw 'The Anti-Pirlo' Park Ji-Sung arrive on the pitch and United attacked once more.
In a few minutes, United was up 2-0 and that squashed all hopes of Fulham winning the game. To credit his efforts, Berba finally scored and took his tally to 10goals (in the league) this season.
A good game all around. And Revenge is sweet isn't it.
Here's the highlights!
till then,
Glory Glory Man United,
Liverpool is next.... and Chelsea will follow soon after.
